A survey has placed National telecommunications operator, Globacom, in the Top Ten Most Respected Companies in Nigeria. The survey carried out by the Research and Intelligence unit of Business Day Media Ltd, in collaboration with Jobberman.com, rated Glo in the top ten after the company scored 157 points on all six parameters across 12 cities of the country.

Globacom was rated in the top-ten alongside other high achieving companies and rewarded at an event organized by Business Day Media Ltd tagged ” Nigeria’s Top 100 Most Respected Companies Awards” at the Eko Hotel & Suites, Lagos on Wednesday 29th October, 2014

BusinessDay said Glo finished in the Top Ten after scoring a total of 157 points on the six parameters used in the survey across 12 cities of the country. The survey was conducted by BusinessDay Research and Intelligence Unit (BRUI) in collaboration with Jobberman.com.

Companies recognized cut across the fast moving consumer goods industry, telecommunications, banking, insurance, pharmaceuticals, aviation, manufacturing and real sector. They included GT Bank, Shell, FBN Holdings, Nestle, Nigerian Breweries, Zenith Bank, Diamond Bank, Glaxo Smithkline and Dufil.

Publisher of BusinessDay, Frank Aigbogun, said at the event that the media outfit made use of factors such as Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), Innovation (advertising, pricing, product quality and packaging), Quality of customer service, Response to customer complaints and a company’s ability to Provide exceptional products/services to select its list of top 100 companies.

On the other hand, Jobberman worked on workplace matrices which included company culture, salary benefits, non-salary benefits, prestige/company brand, management integrity and commitment to staff welfare in its own assessment. Both institutions polled a total of 11,982 in the 12 states visited, Aigbogun explained.

He said that the team worked for over five months to arrive at the result and that two states from each of the six geo-political zones of the country were covered in the survey, adding that the responses of
people interviewed showed that they were interested in companies that touched their lives.

Early this year, Glo was similarly ranked amongst the top five most valuable brands in Africa. Publishers of Brand Africa which conducted the survey explained that Globacom made the list because it had “won the hearts of the communities where it has its footprint”. The report, which listed other leading African conglomerates, stated that Globacom got an impressive brand value of 655 to rank among the Top 5 brands in the continent in a list of the Top 10 Most Valuable Brands in Africa.
